B6117 - Multimedia Content Creation and Editing

Academic Year 2026/2027

  • Teaching Mode: E-learning
  • Campus: Forli
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Interpreting (cod. 6347)

Learning outcomes

Students know the fundamental principles of videomaking and are able to apply them to create and edit simple multimedia products.

Course contents

The Multimedia Content Creation and Editing course aims at providing students with the theoretical and practical skills required for the creation and digital editing of multimedia content. Through an integrated and interdisciplinary approach, students will explore various types of media, from static images to audio content production, from video production to interactive texts. Design, development, production, post-production and dissemination techniques will be explored, with a focus on the use of professional tools and software.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

- Understand the basic principles of multimedia content creation;

- Use professional software and tools for image, audio and video editing;

- Design and produce high-quality multimedia content;

- Apply multimedia storytelling techniques;

- Evaluate and improve the quality of multimedia content through critical analysis and revision.

Teaching methods

The course will be taught asynchronously on the Virtuale e-learning platform. The lecturer's videorecorded classes will be accompanied and supplemented by individual or group assignments. Technological requirements are limited to a smartphone and a computer

Assessment methods

Throughout the course, students will be assessed on the practical exercises set after certain lessons, with a mark out of 100 and a corresponding explanation; at the end of the course, each student will also be asked to produce a complete and personal multimedia project, which will also be marked out of 100 and will form part of the overall assessment.
The overall assessment will be composed as follows:

  • Timeliness of submission of practical projects and assigned tasks (10 per cent);
  • Level of development, technical accuracy and coherence of the projects and practical tasks carried out during the course (40 per cent);
  • Final practical assessment, consisting of the creation of a complete multimedia project (50 per cent).

Should students be dissatisfied with their final mark, expressed out of thirty, they may request the opportunity to sit an oral examination on two texts of their choice from those listed in the bibliography.

Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria will be as follows:

  • Creativity and storytelling: the ability to conceive and develop an effective narrative, with particular attention to visual thinking and consistency between form, content and the media used;
  • Technical skills: the skilful use of professional software and tools for the production, editing and post-production of multimedia content;
  • Communication skills: the ability to work in a team, to communicate and present one’s ideas clearly, and to adapt the message to the context and target audience;
  • Analytical and revision skills: the ability to critically analyse the content produced, to interpret feedback and performance data, and to improve the project during the revision phase.

Assessment grid (mark out of 30)

30–30L
An excellent performance, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the principles of multimedia content creation and advanced mastery of the design, production and editing stages. Fully informed use of professional tools and software. A coherent, original and technically sound project, with effective storytelling and excellent critical analysis and revision skills.

27–29
Above-average performance, characterised by solid and comprehensive knowledge and a correct and informed use of production and post-production tools. The project is well-structured, with clear storytelling and good evaluation skills.

24–26
A generally sound performance, demonstrating an adequate understanding of the principles of multimedia production and the correct application of editing techniques. The project is coherent, although there is room for improvement in terms of narrative development or the integration of media.

21–23
A satisfactory performance, demonstrating correct but not in-depth knowledge. The use of tools and techniques is limited and at times lacking in awareness. The multimedia product is comprehensible but basic, with limited capacity for critical review.

18–20
A barely satisfactory performance, based on basic skills. The use of tools is rudimentary and uncertain, the storytelling is underdeveloped, and the overall development of the project is generic.

Unsatisfactory
The assessment does not demonstrate adequate acquisition of the theoretical and practical skills required by the course. Knowledge is fragmentary, the use of software is inappropriate or incomplete, and the project lacks a clear narrative structure and a deliberate revision phase.

The use of AI is prohibited. Any use constitutes a breach of academic integrity. The lecturer will verify that the exam work has been carried out independently by checking the material submitted, which may be followed by a supplementary oral interview.

Note 2
Students with specific learning difficulties (SLDs) or temporary or permanent disabilities (including serious health problems that interfere with the normal pursuit of their studies) are asked to contact the relevant University office promptly (Service for Students with Disabilities and Specific Learning Difficulties: [https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/it] ), preferably before the start of the course. Please note: it is the responsibility of the relevant office to propose any necessary adjustments to the students concerned; these must, in any case, be submitted for approval by the lecturer at least 15 days before the exam date, and the lecturer will assess their appropriateness, taking into account the course’s learning objectives.
