Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will acquire the practical competencies and skills required to use the main tools of Outdoor Education, namely outdoor motor activities, in order to promote, plan and manage inclusive outdoor projects within the field of Human Movement Sciences.
Course contents
The course provides practical and experiential learning opportunities designed to enable students to directly explore the inclusive potential and the contribution of motor activities to psychological well-being in natural environments and other active learning settings.
Through a variety of motor activities, traditional games, cooperative activities, exploration tasks, problem-solving experiences and educational planning activities, students will be encouraged to observe and analyse the relationships between the characteristics of motor practices, participants' needs, processes of inclusion and the promotion of well-being, developing the competencies required to design educational interventions that are accessible, meaningful and oriented towards the promotion of individual health and well-being.
Particular attention will be devoted to reflecting upon and critically processing the experiences undertaken, exploring the relationships between motor activities, Outdoor Education, personal development, inclusion, interpersonal dynamics and self-regulation processes. Practical activities will be continuously integrated with the main theoretical principles addressed in the integrated course.

Teaching methods
The course is mainly based on practical and experiential learning activities designed to promote students' active and informed participation while fostering connections between direct experience, pedagogical and psychological reflection, and educational planning.
Activities will take place primarily in outdoor settings, including both urban and natural environments, and will include motor games, traditional games, cooperative activities, exploration tasks, practical workshops, mindfulness sessions, and educational planning activities focused on the design of inclusive learning experiences. Alongside direct experience, students will engage in observation, whole-class discussions, guided reflection, and both individual and collaborative processing of their experiences, with the aim of developing critical thinking, reflective skills and educational planning competencies.
Practical activities will be continuously integrated with the main theoretical principles addressed in the integrated course, encouraging dialogue between pedagogical and psychological perspectives and supporting the transfer of acquired competencies to different educational settings and to initiatives promoting psychological well-being.
Assessment methods
Assessment is closely integrated with the theoretical module Special Education and Outdoor Education, of which this practical module represents the natural experiential complement.
Assessment of the practical activities will contribute to the final Project Work, evaluating students' ability to connect the theoretical principles addressed in the course with the design, implementation and critical analysis of inclusive motor activities and Outdoor Education experiences.
Assessment will take into account students' participation in practical activities, their ability to observe and critically analyse the experiences undertaken, their autonomy in educational planning, the quality of their reflective work, and their ability to integrate pedagogical and psychological perspectives into the design of inclusive educational interventions aimed at promoting psychological well-being.
Regarding assessment, the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence tools is permitted only for limited, declared and non-substantial support activities (e.g. summarising or rephrasing texts). Substantial use of AI in producing assessment work is not permitted, and all submitted work must represent the student's own original contribution.
Teaching tools
Teaching activities will be supported through the University of Bologna's Virtuale online learning platform, where students will find study materials, practical worksheets, lecture presentations, scientific papers, case discussions, additional readings, bibliographical references and other learning resources supporting both the preparation for and the critical reflection on the practical activities.
Throughout the course, students will also make use of equipment and materials suitable for Outdoor Education activities, observation and documentation tools, instruments for assessing the psychological dimensions of well-being, videos, multimedia resources and other teaching materials supporting the analysis, design and pedagogical and psychological reflection on inclusive motor practices.
Generative Artificial Intelligence tools may be used as a support for individual study, provided they are employed critically, responsibly and transparently, for example to summarise course contents, reformulate concepts or support self-assessment.
Teaching materials will be progressively updated throughout the course in response to students' interests and to developments in current scientific debate.
