Assessment methods
Attending students:
The exam consists of:
1. A multiple-choice written test covering the topics addressed during lectures (at the end of the course). The study materials for this test include the lecture notes available on Virtuale and the texts indicated in the bibliography for attending students.
For this test, the use of AI is prohibited in any form during the examination. Any use constitutes a violation of academic integrity and may result in the cancellation of the test.
2. An in-class presentation (using slides/PowerPoint) of an article chosen by the student from a list provided by the professor (at the end of the course). Evaluation will be based on presentation skills, mastery of the article's content, and the ability to connect it to the general themes of the course. During the presentation, the professor reserves the right to ask follow-up questions regarding both the article and the topics covered in class.
For this test, the use of generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) is permitted under strict conditions, provided it is explicitly disclosed and limited solely to supporting individual study at home—for instance, to facilitate the understanding of the article or to outline its key points. However, the synthesis of the content and the creation of the PowerPoint presentation must be the student's own work. Students must disclose whether they have used AI, explicitly indicating which parts of their work were assisted.
In any case, the evaluation will be entirely based on classroom performance: students must personally demonstrate full mastery of the content of both the article and the lectures, as well as the ability to respond critically to the professor's follow-up questions without the use of external aids.
The final grade will be determined by the average of the score obtained in the mid-term written test and the score obtained in the final presentation.
Non-attending students
The exam consists of an oral examination on the texts indicated in the bibliography for non-attending students.
For this test, the use of AI is prohibited in any form during the examination. Any use constitutes a violation of academic integrity and may result in the cancellation of the test.
Students with SLD (Specific Learning Disabilities)
Students with SLD must contact the relevant university office and arrange for their tutors to email the instructors, following the standard procedures and well in advance (at least 15 days before the exam session). This is required to agree upon the examination arrangements (such as additional time, choosing an oral exam, and/or using mind maps). If the use of mind maps is requested, these must be sent to the instructors at least 15 days before the exam date to verify their suitability.
Partial Exams
Students who need to take a partial exam (e.g., worth 4 CFUs) must notify the instructor via email at least 10 days before the exam session.
