Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the integrated Anatomy course, students must know the morphological organization and the morpho-functional relationships of the systems and apparatuses that make up the human body under normal conditions.
Course contents
CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

Organization and development of the central nervous system.
-
Spinal cord: external and internal configuration. Roots of the spinal nerves. Organization of the gray matter and white matter.

Brainstem: medulla oblongata, pons, and midbrain. External configuration and relationships. Fourth ventricle, cerebral peduncles, tectal plate (lamina quadrigemina), cerebral aqueduct.

Cerebellum: external and internal configuration, structure and architecture of the cerebellar cortex.

Diencephalon: thalamus, hypothalamus, epithalamus, and subthalamus. Third ventricle.

Telencephalon (Cerebrum): general conformation. Sulci and fissures, lobes, gyri, cortex, cerebral areas. Lateral ventricles. Subcortical nuclei (basal ganglia) and white matter organization. Main commissural pathways of the telencephalon. Limbic system.

Spinal and cranial meninges: dura mater, arachnoid mater, pia mater, chorioid telae and plexuses, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

Vascularization of the neuraxis: blood supply to the spinal cord and brain. Internal carotid artery. Vertebro-basilar system. Circle of Willis. Cerebral arteries. Dural venous sinuses.

Autonomic nervous system: sympathetic system and related plexuses. Cranial and sacral parasympathetic system.
PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

Spinal nerves, cranial nerves, and main nerve plexuses.

Special sensory organs: visual system (apparatus of vision), auditory system (apparatus of hearing).

Teaching methods
The course consists of a series of lectures accompanied by practical training sessions. The practical training sessions take place:

at the educational laboratories of the Morgagni-Pierantoni Hospital, utilizing the Anatomage virtual dissection table.

in the dissection room of the Anatomy Centre, located at the Anatomical Institute in Bologna, using cadavers prepared by the professors.

Assessment methods
The final verification consists of an oral exam in which the student must demonstrate acquired knowledge of systematic and topographical anatomy of the various organs and neuroanatomy. It 'also provided the recognition of a microscopic slide through a microscope.
Gradation of the final grade in Anatomy
Sufficient knowledge of the topics covered in the course but reduced ability to express that sometimes emerges only with the help of the teacher: grade from 18 to 24;
Satisfactory knowledge of the topics covered in the course, good expression skills and good command of specific terminology: grade from 25 to 28;
Exhaustive knowledge of the topics covered in the course, excellent expression skills, full mastery of specific terminology and argumentation skills: grade from 29 to 30L Students with learning disorders and\or temporary or permanent disabilities: please, contact the office responsible (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con- disabilita-e-dsa/en/for-students) as soon as possible so that they can propose acceptable adjustments. Personal computer, video projector, overhead projector. The course consists of a series of lectures accompanied by practical training sessions utilizing the ANATOMAGE virtual dissection table, held in the Macroscopic Anatomy Room at the Forlì campus.
