Learning outcomes

The economic context requires all organizations to constantly update their endowment of resources to adapt to the market demand and to the evolution of technologies. The Course will illustrate the different types of innovation, technological evolution and the methods of managing intellectual capital and innovation. At the end of the Course the student will be able to collaborate to the digital transformation of an organization and to the application of the main emerging technologies.

Course contents

  • Redefining the concepts of innovation and entrepreneurship in light of digital evolution.
  • The meaning of digital transformation and an analysis of its impact on business innovation.
  • The development of innovation and the evolution of business models: from traditional to digital models. Definitions, key characteristics, and benefits.
  • Technology and innovation management.
  • Successful cases of innovation in organizations: the role of failure.
  • The world of digital start-ups.

    Teaching methods

    The course combines theoretical lectures with practical case studies based on testimonials and problem-solving activities.

    Assessment methods

    For attending students: group work based on guest speakers’ contributions and the development of a business concept, as well as active participation during classes and conferences.

    For non-attending students: a comprehensive test covering the entire course syllabus and the guest speakers’ contributions, to be taken at the end of the course.

    Teaching tools

    Teaching materials are available online to students and are based on newspaper articles and case studies.
