Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the module, the student acquires the knowledge and ability to understand the clinical presentations associated with disorders of the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS).

Course contents

The course aims to provide students with the essentials of neurology, focusing on clinical aspects to enable them to understand:

the pathophysiological basis of the peripheral nervous system and the principles of neurological examination, in order to distinguish normal from abnormal objective signs involving the central and peripheral nervous systems
the main disorders of the peripheral nervous system
the primary laboratory and instrumental techniques used in neurology, along with their diagnostic and prognostic significance.

Oral exam

Attendance at teaching activities is mandatory; the minimum attendance requirement for admission to the final exam is 75% of the lessons. For integrated courses (CI), the 75% attendance requirement applies to the total number of lessons within the integrated course. Students who do not meet the minimum attendance requirement will not be admitted to the final exam and must attend the classes again in the following academic year.
Any topic covered in class may be included in the exam.
Students with learning disabilities or temporary/permanent disabilities are encouraged to contact the dedicated office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/it/per-studenti) as soon as possible to agree upon appropriate compensatory measures. The request must be submitted in advance (15 days prior to the exam date) to the lecturer, who will assess the suitability of the measures in light of the learning objectives.
The exam is considered passed if the result is at least a passing grade, i.e., 18 out of 30.
The final grade will be determined by combining the individual grades from the various modules of the integrated course.
