Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students will have acquired the essential knowledge of the fundamentals of hormone action and intermediate metabolism, as well as the basic principles for the pathophysiological interpretation of the different endocrine and metabolic disease states.

Course contents

Course topics include neuroendocrinology; the physiology and pathology of the thyroid and parathyroid glands; the physiology and pathology of the female and male gonads; the physiology and pathology of the adrenal gland; obesity and metabolic syndrome; and diabetes.

Readings/Bibliography

No recommended textbooks are required. Independent study will be based on the lecture slides provided by the instructor.
