Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student acquires the basic knowledge of surgical pathology and histopathology of neoplastic and non neoplastic diseases.

Course contents

Applications of basic histopathology techniques to diagnostics.

Pathologic bases of inflammatory and infectious diseases

Precancer lesions and cancer.

Cancer grade and stage.

Focus on malignant epithelial tumors: lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, colo-rectal cancer, melanoma.

Focus on mesenchymal tumors: bone tumors, soft tissue sarcomas

Class presentations are available on Virtuale as pdf files.

Teaching methods

Lectures. The attendance to at least 60% of the lectures is required to take the final learning test.

Attendance will be recorded on the RPS platform.

Assessment methods

Written test with 30 multiple-choice questions on the topics presented in the classes at the end of the course.

The judge of the General Histopathology module will be integrate with the judges obtained in the other modules of integrated course to obtain the final vote.
