Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will acquire practical and applied competencies related to Outdoor Motor Activities. They will be able to understand how different motor activities make use of action space and how outdoor experiences influence participants' motor development, as well as their individual psychological and cognitive growth and interpersonal relationships.
Course contents
The course provides practical Outdoor Education experiences aimed at directly exploring the educational potential of motor activities carried out in natural environments and other active learning settings.
Through motor games, traditional games, cooperative activities, exploration tasks, orienteering activities and educational planning experiences, students will be encouraged to observe and analyse the relationships between action space, the characteristics of motor activities and participants' motor conduct, developing competencies for the design of meaningful educational experiences.
Particular attention will be devoted to reflecting on the relationships between motor experience, personal development, learning, inclusion and interpersonal dynamics, while continuously connecting practical experiences with the theoretical principles addressed in the integrated course.

Teaching methods
The course is mainly based on practical and experiential learning activities, designed to promote students' active and informed participation while fostering connections between direct experience, pedagogical reflection and educational planning.
Activities will mainly take place in outdoor settings and will include motor games, traditional games, cooperative activities, exploration tasks, practical exercises and educational planning activities. Alongside direct experience, students will engage in observation, whole-class discussions, guided reflection and individual and shared processing of their experiences, with the aim of developing critical, reflective and planning skills.
Practical activities will be continuously integrated with the theoretical principles addressed in the integrated course, encouraging students to transfer the competencies acquired to different educational contexts.
Assessment methods
Assessment is closely integrated with the theoretical module of Pedagogy of Play and Sport, of which this practical module represents the natural experiential complement.
For attending students, assessment will take into account active participation in practical activities, the ability to observe and critically analyse the experiences carried out, and the contribution to the development and presentation of the final Project Work, in which theoretical and practical components are expected to be integrated into a coherent educational proposal.
For non-attending students, assessment will be arranged in agreement with the lecturer and will focus on the ability to connect the theoretical principles of Outdoor Education with the design and critical analysis of motor activities in natural environments.
Assessment will consider students' participation, their ability to connect theory and practice, autonomy in educational planning, quality of critical analysis and appropriate use of disciplinary terminology.
Regarding assessment, the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence tools is permitted only for limited, declared and non-substantial support activities (e.g. summarising or rephrasing texts). Substantial use of AI in producing assessment work is not permitted, and all submitted work must represent the student's own original contribution.
Teaching tools
Teaching activities will be supported through the University of Bologna's Virtuale online learning platform, where students will find study materials, practical worksheets, lecture presentations, scientific papers, additional readings, bibliographical references and other learning resources supporting both preparation and reflection on the practical activities.
The course will also make use of equipment and materials suitable for Outdoor Education activities, observation and documentation tools, videos, multimedia resources and other teaching materials supporting the analysis, planning and pedagogical reflection of outdoor motor activities.
Generative Artificial Intelligence tools may be used as a support for individual study, provided they are employed critically and responsibly, for example to summarise contents, reformulate concepts or support self-assessment.
Additional teaching materials may be progressively integrated throughout the course, also in response to students' interests and to developments in current scientific research.
