Learning outcomes
The course is structured as a workshop and provides an introduction to the basics of reporting, writing and producing audiovisual content, with a focus on digital journalism for the web and platforms. At the end of the workshop, students have acquired a working knowledge of the most recent forms of digital journalism; know the basics for the production of audio and visual digital content; have had the opportunity to practise new skills and team working; are familiar with the latest developments of the debate surrounding digital platforms and journalistic practices.
Course contents
The course is organized as a laboratory and provides an opportunity for applied and reflective learning of the core competencies required across the various fields of digital journalism. Through the analysis and discussion of case studies, students will explore the main forms of digital journalism, with particular attention to the platform and social media ecosystem.
The practical dimension of the course will be consistently integrated with key sociological approaches to the study of journalism, enabling students to connect hands-on experience with theoretical frameworks for analysis and interpretation.
Students will work in groups to design and develop a project, fostering active participation, peer collaboration, and the development of transferable skills such as teamwork. Each group will engage with the different stages involved in the conception, development, and production of digital journalism outputs (e.g., podcasts, audiovisual productions, and social media content).
