Course contents

The course will take place during the first semester (October 2026- January 2027)

for the M-PSI/05 Module (Module 1: Community Psychology - Prof. Cinzia Albanesi, Prof. Francesca Esposito)

The course takes place in the II Cycle of lessons (March-May 2027) for Module M-PSI/08 (Module 2: Roberto Cattivelli)

M-PSI/05

Community Psychology (Prof.ssa Albanesi, Prof.ssa Esposito)

The course takes place during the first teaching period (October 2026 – January 2027) at the Cesena campus.

The laboratory enables students to apply the methods and tools of Community Psychology within a structured Service-Learning (SL) pathway focused on psychosocial, educational and wellbeing-promotion analysis and intervention.

The programme is organised around the following thematic areas and field activities:

- Context, Needs and Resource Analysis: Collaborative analysis with local organisations (associations, NGOs, public services) through qualitative methodologies (observations, conducting interviews and focus groups).

- Planning and Evaluation: Definition of objectives, intervention methodologies and the action evaluation plan in synergy with local stakeholders.

- Monitoring and Implementation: Ongoing monitoring through individual and small-group reflections, and implementation in the field of the planned actions (within the time limits of the laboratory).

- Documentation and Feedback: Preparation of a final group report and communication of results to the community and stakeholders.

Development of Transferable Skills: Through Service-Learning activities, experiential learning processes are activated with the aim of acquiring civic competences, active citizenship, social responsibility and critical reflexivity, applying psychological practice from the perspective of social justice and sustainable development. The activities focus on themes and issues emerging in society that are identified by (and together with) local organisations and involve the active participation of students, with the aim of responding to the social needs of the community from the perspective of social justice and sustainable development. This approach promotes experiential learning and values students' active role, enabling them to apply the theoretical knowledge and disciplinary competences developed within the academic context.

M-PSI/08

Clinical Psychology (Prof. Roberto Cattivelli)

The module explores the comparison between different theoretical models in Clinical Psychology and their application to clinical reasoning, assessment and case formulation. Activities are designed to connect theoretical concepts with realistic situations and with the different settings in which psychologists work. The programme is organised around the following thematic areas and applied activities: - analysis of the referral question and collection and organisation of clinically relevant information; - conducting the clinical interview and integrating observation, interview data, assessment tools and contextual information; - comparison between different theoretical models and their implications for understanding psychological functioning, case formulation and the identification of intervention goals; - the professional relationship, clinical communication and feedback on assessment findings; - contextualisation of psychologists’ clinical work within healthcare, social and healthcare, local, community and private-practice settings, with particular attention to integration within the Italian National Health Service; - work in multidisciplinary teams and service networks, collaboration with healthcare and non-healthcare professionals, information sharing, professional boundaries, referral and continuity of care; - the influence of family, social and cultural factors on the expression of psychological distress, help-seeking, assessment and relationships with services; - professionals’ emotional responses, reflective capacity and self-regulation in complex or emotionally demanding clinical situations; - the main ethical and professional-deontological aspects of psychological assessment and support, including, when relevant, the opportunities and critical issues associated with telepsychology, digital tools and artificial-intelligence-based systems. The contents will be developed through the analysis and discussion of clinical cases and situations.

Teaching methods

M-PSI/05

Community Psychology (Prof.ssa Albanesi, Prof.ssa Esposito)

The module adopts the structured educational methodology of Service-Learning (SL), integrating classroom teaching with practical and experiential field activities:

- Classroom Activities (approximately 6 hours): Short lectures, guided discussions, supervision activities and consultancy provided by the lecturer aimed at promoting empowerment, sense of community, social responsibility and critical reflexivity.

- Field Activities (approximately 20 hours): Collaborative work in small, ongoing groups focused on context analysis, drafting the intervention project, monitoring, documentation and reporting back to local stakeholders.

M-PSI/08

Clinical Psychology (Prof. Roberto Cattivelli)

Teaching activities will be primarily practical and applied. They will include individual and small-group work, presentation and discussion of clinical cases, viewing and analysis of audiovisual material, role-playing, simulations of psychological interviews and exercises on assessment, case formulation and psychological support procedures. Exercises may include: - conducting and observing interviews and formulating and providing feedback on a case; - discussing a case within a multidisciplinary team and identifying the relevant service network and possible referral pathways; - adapting assessment and communication to the person’s cultural and contextual characteristics; - reflecting on emotional responses, clinical choices and ethical and deontological implications emerging during simulations. Activities will be accompanied by guided discussion and feedback from the lecturer and the group.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods

M-PSI/05

  • Community Psychology (Prof.ssa Albanesi, Prof.ssa Esposito)

    Pass status is awarded to students who:

    - have attended classroom activities, fieldwork activities and the feedback activity involving stakeholders and the community;

    - participate in the preparation and presentation to the community of a final report/presentation (individual or group) documenting the experience undertaken. Instructions regarding the preparation of the report and final presentation will be provided during the course;

    - produce an individual reflection on the pathway and learning achieved through the use of a reflective diary and participation in monitoring meetings;

    - complete an evaluation questionnaire regarding the experience.

    With regard to project design activities, the preparation of the final report/presentation and the reflective diary, a limited, declared and non-substantive use of AI is permitted for support activities (summaries and reformulations). Substantive or generative use for the completion of activities is not permitted.

M-PSI/08

Clinical Psychology (Prof. Roberto Cattivelli)

Pass status is awarded on the basis of attendance, active participation in laboratory activities and completion of a short individual or small-group assignment. The assignment is intended to assess students’ ability to apply the contents of the laboratory and develop independent and critical clinical reasoning. It may involve the analysis of a case or clinical problem, or the applied exploration of a psychological process, an assessment method or an intervention approach. Operational instructions will be provided during the laboratory. Any use of artificial-intelligence tools must be declared and may not replace independent clinical reasoning

Teaching tools

M-PSI/05: Video projector, overhead projector and PC, teaching materials provided during lessons.

M-PSI/08: Video projector, overhead projector and PC, teaching materials provided during lessons.
