Learning outcomes

The course aims at giving students the opportunity to acquire the basics and foundations of private law applied to contracts, with special attention to business law.

Course contents

The student develops an in-depth understanding of the fundamental institutions of private law, especially those concerning persons, property, obligations, contracts, and torts.

By the end of the course, the student is expected to be able to navigate the books of the Civil Code, having assimilated their structure and the logic underlying their organization.

Teaching methods

Traditional lectures. Case study.

Assessment methods

The final exam will consists of a written test, on a topic of the program, followed by an oral test. The oral examination, through questions on different themes of the program, will be aimed at testing the achievement of learning objectives and the acquisition of an appropriate legal terminology preparatory to subsequent teachings. The negative evaluation of the written test does not affect access to the oral exam.

Attending students will have access to an interim test that will take place in December at the end of the lessons. Details will be shown during the lessons.

Registration for the final exam can be made through the application Almaesami (https://almaesami.unibo.it/almaesami/welcome.htm ).

By way of example, the following criteria will be used to assess the final mark (that will be out of 30/30):

- sufficient or barely sufficient knowledge on the programme, limited reasoning ability, some difficulties in using technical and legal language → 18-21/30;

- fairly good knowledge of the programme, adequate critical reasoning ability, sound use of technical and legal language → 22-25/30;

- comprehensive knowledge of the programme, notable reasoning ability, good command of technical and legal language → 26-29/30;

- extensive knowledge of the programme, very good reasoning ability, and ability to fully master technical-legal language → 30-30L/30.

Students with learning disorders and/or temporary or permanent disabilities: please contact the office responsible (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en/for-students) as soon as possible so that they can propose acceptable adjustments. The request for adaptation must be submitted in advance (15 days before the exam date) to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of the adjustments, taking into account the teaching objectives.

Only one possibility of refusing the vote is allowed (Article 16.5 of the University Didactic Regulations) exam will take place exclusively in oral form.
