B4943 - PRINCIPLES OF CORPORATE FINANCE.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the Course the student will have learned: corporate finance analysis the concept of the time value of money the main capital budgeting models the main models for determining the cost of the financial structure.

Course contents

The course starts by presenting what we consider to be the main objective of company management: the maximization of shareholder value.

To give practical meaning to this principle, the course first introduces one of the basic techniques of corporate finance: the calculation of the net present value (NPV) of an investment

Lessons on financial statement analysis and financial planning provide students with a common language and technical foundation

Assessment methods

Students' knowledge and skills will be assessed through a written exam.

The exam (30 points) consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. Each question has only one correct answer. Wrong and unanswered questions receive zero points.

The use of a financial calculator is allowed during the examination. The use of any other material, unless explicitly authorized, is prohibited. Violation of these rules will result in removal from the classroom and termination of the examination.

To take the written exam, students must register online through the AlmaEsami system. If you experience any problems with the registration process, please contact the instructor.

The minimum score required to pass the exam is 18/30.

• <18 insufficient


• 18-23 sufficient


• 24-27 good


• 28-30 very good


• 30 cum laude excellent

Students with SLD or temporary or permanent disabilities. It is necessary to contact the relevant University office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en ) with ample time in advance: the office will propose some adjustments, which must in any case be submitted 15 days in advance to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of these in relation to the teaching objectives.
