Academic Year 2026/2027

  • Teaching Mode: In-person learning (entirely or partially)
  • Campus: Cesena
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Neuroscience and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation (cod. 6743)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the students 1) possess knowledge about methods and theoretic models of neuropsychological rehabilitation; 2) are able to understand how to use available neuro-rehabilitation techniques

Course contents

The course will take place during the first semester (September-December, 2026), at the Department of Psychology - Cesena Campus (Piazza Aldo Moro, 90).

Course contents:

  • Neural plasticity after cerebral lesions;
  • Research methods in neuropsychological rehabilitation;
  • Neuropsychological rehabilitation of perceptual deficits;
  • Neuropsychological rehabilitation of attentional deficits;
  • Neuropsychological rehabilitation of movement-related deficits;
  • Neuropsychological rehabilitation of language deficits;
  • Neuropsychological rehabilitation of memory deficits;
  • Neuropsychological rehabilitation of deficits following frontal lesions.

Readings/Bibliography

Obligatory course readings:

- E. Làdavas - Riabilitazione Neuropsicologica- Ed. Il Mulino.

- the slides and selected scientific papers presented during each class. Please note these are meant as integrative, not alternative, of the course readings. The slides will be available after the classes on https://virtuale.unibo.it/

Teaching methods

Lectures. Throughout the lectures, clinical cases and videos will be presented.

Assessment methods

The oral exam tests the knowledge of the neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation methods, and of their theoretical background.

The assessment of learning outcomes consists of an oral examination. The maximum score (30/30) will be awarded to students who are able to answer the theoretical questions accurately and demonstrate the ability to relate the clinical signs of the major neuropsychological disorders to the appropriate rehabilitation approaches. Depending on the accuracy and completeness of the student's performance, the final grade will range from 30 to 18, according to the following criteria:

- 30–30 with honors (30L): Comprehensive knowledge of the topics covered in the course; ability to perform independent critical analysis and establish meaningful connections among concepts; full command of the discipline-specific terminology; excellent argumentation and critical reflection skills.

- 25–29: Good knowledge of a broad range of topics covered in the course; ability to perform independent critical analysis; good command of the discipline-specific terminology.

- 20–24: Knowledge of a limited range of topics covered in the course; ability to carry out independent analysis only with respect to straightforward or procedural issues; appropriate use of scientific language.

- 18–19: Knowledge of a very limited range of topics covered in the course; analytical ability demonstrated only with the support of the examiner; overall appropriate use of scientific language.

During the examination, the use of any supporting materials is not permitted, including textbooks, notes, or electronic devices (e.g., tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, and similar devices).

With regard to the assessment of learning outcomes, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools is strictly prohibited. Any use of AI constitutes a violation of academic integrity.

The student is required to complete the online registration (Almaesami) within the terms in order to be admitted to the exam. In the case of technical problems the student is required to promptly contact the Segreteria Studenti and email prof. Bertini (within the terms) who will consider the request and decide about the admission.

Students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) or temporary/permanent disabilities: It is recommended to contact the appropriate university office in advance (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en). The office will be responsible for proposing any necessary accommodations to the interested students, which must, however, be submitted to the instructor for approval at least 15 days in advance. The instructor will assess their suitability also in relation to the learning objectives of the course.
