Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the Student gains a full understanding on how to create Business Performance Indicators through the creation of coding techniques for Measures, Calculated Columns and Calculated Tables in a Columnar In-Memory Analytics Database. This includes Time-Intelligence advanced calculations.

Furthermore, the Student understands context and semantics in a general sense.

Course contents

Important: it is higly recommended to attend the course "Principi di Business Intelligence" (https://www.unibo.it/it/didattica/insegnamenti/insegnamento/2022/463901, taught in Italian) or to study in anyway the related contents before attending this course, as this will facilitate the learning process.

Business Intelligence Principles.

Business Intelligence in Power BI Desktop.

Scalar Functions, Table Functions, Grouping Functions.

Iterators.

Contexts.

Time Intelligence calculations.

Teaching methods

Lectures and practical applications in laboratory.

Important note: up to 20 Erasmus students can be accepted, the criteria will be "first come, first served".

Assessment methods

Practical test at the PC on MS Excel Power Pivot / MS Power BI, plus a few theory open questions.

The course mark is numeric (from 0 to 30), numeric marks correspond to the following grades:

<18 Insufficient
18-23 Sufficient
24-27 Good
28-30 Very Good
30 cum laude Excellent
