Learning outcomes
At the end of the module, the student knows the main methods and tools for advanced nursing assessment and the knowledge to assist the patient during invasive diagnostic-therapeutic procedures.

1. Ultrasound in Nursing Clinical Practice
Students will acquire basic competencies in the use of ultrasound equipment for procedures within the nursing scope of practice.
Content:
1.1 Fundamentals of ultrasound physiology
1.2 Introduction to the ultrasound device
1.3 Basic principles

Thoracic ultrasound

Vascular ultrasound – vascular access and intravascular devices

Ultrasound applied to the genitourinary and gastrointestinal systems

Clinical ultrasound in emergency care
1.4 Applied Ultrasonography
Use of ultrasound equipment through guided simulation sessions. The ultrasound images obtained will be projected onto a screen and discussed by the participants.
2. Emergency Pharmacology
Students will acquire in-depth knowledge of pharmacology applied to emergency and urgent care settings.
Content:
2.1 ALS drugs and antiarrhythmics used in emergency care
2.2 Pharmacological reversal in cases of overdose
2.3 Neuro-sedation – focus on induction for general anaesthesia
