Learning outcomes
At the end of the internship, the student is able to fabricate nearly all types of prosthetic and orthotic devices, including limb prostheses and limb and trunk orthoses. The student is also able to train patients in the management and use of these devices, working in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. They are able to provide technical assistance for the fitting, replacement, and repair of prostheses and orthoses. They are able to collaborate with the prescribing physician in developing the rehabilitation plan and in testing the devices. They are able to monitor and conduct a clinical trial as part of a research project within their area of expertise.

Since this is an internship, there are no handouts or textbooks related to it, but successfully completing the internship and lab training provides excellent guidance.

Internships and Practical Training at Affiliated Orthopedic and Healthcare Clinics
Assessment methods
Learning assessment will be conducted through a two-part evaluation process: the internship period and the results of the theoretical and practical exams.
The evaluation will take into account the entire internship period, considering the participant’s commitment, participation, the level of autonomy achieved, and the technical and professional skills developed during the activities carried out at the host company.
At the end of the program, participants must take a theoretical and a practical exam covering the tasks and activities actually performed during the internship, in order to assess their ability to correctly apply the knowledge and skills acquired in a real-world setting.
The topics for the practical exam will be selected on the day of the exam, ensuring impartiality and transparency in the evaluation process.
The theoretical exam lasts 45 minutes, while the practical exam lasts 30 minutes—both will be evaluated by the tutors.
