Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student:

- will be able to understand the fundamental principles of Internet as a packet-switched network, together with the main services offered by the World Wide Web, such as electronic post, instant messaging, remote connection, the evolution of social networks or Web2 and the information search mechanisms available on the Web.

- will also have a basic knowledge of the use of electronic spreadsheets (operations, functions, graphics) and database management (creation of tables, relationships, masks and questionnaires).

Course contents

From a media education perspective, the workshop will be a journey of exploration and learning about educational technologies applied to early years settings.

Specifically, the workshop will help participants develop skills in the multimedia documentation of educational and teaching experiences, with particular reference to sound and music, and to practices relating to various artistic, narrative and expressive forms.

Some educational apps and other tools based on artificial intelligence will be presented.

Texts and materials, etc. relevant to the laboratory will be supplied by the professor.

 



Teaching methods

The course is organised as a laboratory and therefore tests will be both practical (assessed by the professor during the lessons) and written (to be presented or handed in to the professor at the end of the lessons).

Assessment methods

The professor will give tests based on the practical exercises held during the laboratory and at home. Each laboratory amounts to 3 CFU consisting of 24 hours of lessons in class (8 hours per CFU) and 51 hours of individual study (each CFU totals 25 hours). At the end of the laboratory the assessment will be expressed as ‘professional competence’.

Teaching tools

Lessons are normally held in the computing lab using a projector screen and interactive whiteboard and each student has a PC desktop.
