Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student has a thorough knowledge of the system of sources of transport law and the distribution of administrative competences in the sector at national, European and international level. In particular, the student acquires a general knowledge of the subject, as well as the ability to understand the main institutes of transport law and to evaluate the solutions to the main problems encountered by operators in the sector. The course therefore aims to stimulate discussion and encourage critical analysis of the topics covered.

Course contents

The course aims to provide a general understanding of the main institutions and principles of transport law. During the lectures, students will examine the applicable national, European Union, and international legal frameworks governing the sector, as well as the most recent proposals relating to European transport policy. Particular attention will be devoted to the public law aspects of transport, including transport infrastructure and access to the transport market.

In addition, one of the course's primary objectives is to equip students with the critical analytical tools necessary to assess and understand the complex nature of the transport sector and to identify the legal issues underlying the regulation of contemporary developments and established practices in the field of transport.

Teaching methods

The course takes place through lessons, also carried out through the use of power point presentations, held during the second semester and aimed at soliciting the involvement of students. Students who have completed their attendance in the academic year relative to the one in which the subject is included in the study plan will be able to take the exam starting from the month of May. During the course a cycle of seminars / meetings will be organized aimed at studying some of the most recent legal issues dealt with during the lessons.

Assessment methods

Assessment of the expected learning outcomes takes place during the final examination, which is designed to evaluate the achievement of the course's intended learning objectives. The examination consists of a multiple-choice written test covering the topics included in the course syllabus.

The assessment will take into account the student's knowledge of the institutional aspects of the subject, their ability to analyze scholarly and case-law developments, make connections between the various parts of the syllabus, develop critical arguments, and present their ideas clearly.

Particular attention will be paid to the student's ability to identify, within the relevant legal sources and reference bibliography, the information necessary to understand and explain the distinctive features and specific characteristics of the discipline.

During the examination, the use of supporting materials such as textbooks, notes, or electronic devices is not permitted.

Any additional details regarding the examination procedures will be communicated during the course.
