Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student has a conceptual and practical preparation to carry out the observation and monitoring of the oral cavity. He is also able to recognize and use the instruments necessary for the patient's examination in relation to the tasks of Dental Hygienist. In particular, the student is able to: - Observe the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity including the lips and perioral areas and recognize their anatomy and health; - Recognize and know how to correctly use the instruments necessary for the intraoral examination; - Know and be able to detect the main clinical indices; - Recognize and know how to correctly use the tools necessary for the detection of the main parameters related to health and dento-gingival pathology; - Know the times and procedures indicated for patient monitoring; - Know and know how to compile the medical record of the dental hygienist.

Assessment methods

Interim written test of 15 open questions whose result will contribute to defining the final grade of the integrated course of Dental Hygiene Sciences 1

The purpose of the written test is to verify the student's knowledge of the topics covered in class.

The exam aims to evaluate the achievement of the educational objectives:

Grading of the final grade:

18-19: Preparation on a very limited number of topics covered in the course (at least nine correct answers)

20-24: Preparation on a limited number of topics covered in the course (at least 10 correct answers)

25-29: Preparation on a large number of topics covered in the course (at least 13 correct answers)

30-30L: Substantially exhaustive preparation on the topics covered in the course (15 correct answers)
