Learning outcomes

The course aims at analyzing the general institutions of private law involved in the dynamics related to the world of business and commercial transactions, also in the transnational context. At the end of the course students: - have acquired skills in the practical use of the most frequent legal principles in business transactions in national and international contexts; - possess skills in understanding the logic governing the application of private law rules in the globalized market and policy choices; - know the most relevant institutes of private law of the business community; - know the basic elements of private law of the global market; - know how to analyze the main regulations related to domestic and international contract, business, protection of the person and information society; - can apply this knowledge to the business context also with reference to the challenges of the global context.

Teaching methods

The course will feature both lectures and practical case studies. A Socratic method will be adopted to stimulate discussion in the classroom.

Assessment methods

ATTENDING STUDENTS: half of the student's assessment will be based on the group presentation of a practical case in class and the other half on the final exam, which will consist of a written test, in person, with 5 multiple-choice questions, to be completed in 10 minutes. This test will only cover the contents of the exam slides available on Virtuale.
NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS: Student assessment will be based solely on the final exam, which will consist of a written multiple-choice test with 10 questions to be completed in 20 minutes, in person. This test will focus solely on the content of the exam slides available on Virtuale.

The lessons will be accompanied by slides and materials; students will also be able to find useful material for participating in the teaching activities by consulting Paola Manes' website
