Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will develop skills in planning and managing musical events, with a particular focus on organizational aspects, communication, and promotion. The course covers the stages and processes involved in the conception, production, and distribution of musical events and their content, project management methodologies, technical aspects of event execution, communication strategies, and outcome evaluation.
Course contents
The course introduces the main processes involved in the design and curatorship of musical events, with particular attention to the organisational, cultural, social, and communicative aspects of live music production. Through theoretical frameworks and practical case studies, it explores the key phases of planning and delivering a musical event:
- artistic programming and content curation;
- organisational models and project management tools;
- cultural mediation and communication strategies;
- production and operational management;
- evaluation and analysis of socio-cultural impact.

Teaching methods
The course is held in person and consists of in-class lectures featuring analysis, discussion, and in-depth examination of the topics addressed.
Assessment methods
The exam consists of an oral interview aimed at assessing the student’s critical and methodological skills.
Attending Students
Students who attend at least 75% of the classes may arrange with the course lecturer to complete a project work, which will be assessed and discussed during the final examination. The written assignment, approximately 8–10 pages in length (25,000–30,000 characters including spaces, A4 format, Times New Roman or similar, font size 12, line spacing 1.5), must be submitted at least one week prior to the exam date.
Evaluation will consider detailed knowledge of the course content, language proficiency, the ability to establish connections between different parts of the programme, and critical argumentation skills.
Excellent: Thorough and in-depth knowledge; clearly structured discourse; precise and effective language; strong ability to establish connections across the course content and to develop critical, original arguments.
Very Good: Complete and well-structured knowledge; well-articulated discourse; accurate use of terminology; solid critical and analytical skills.
Good: More than satisfactory knowledge; clear and correct language; appropriate use of core concepts, though with minor limitations in depth or originality.
Fair: Generally correct knowledge, though mostly mechanical or based on memorisation; limited depth and critical insight; expression may lack precision or fluency.
Sufficient: Basic but essential knowledge; inconsistent language use and articulation; discourse may lack clarity and structure.
Barely Sufficient: Superficial or general knowledge; inappropriate or inaccurate language; major gaps in argumentation and conceptual understanding.
Insufficient: Inadequate knowledge; unclear or inappropriate language; failure to meet the expected learning outcomes; lacks disciplinary orientation.
