Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student: - Knows the physiopathological mechanisms and the influence of lifestyle on the development and prevention of cardiovascular diseases useful for defining the basis for the practice of nutritionist activities. - Knows the influence of the different components of lifestyle on the development of vascular diseases, derived diseases, prevention of the same. - Is able to evaluate gender differences in the development of atherosclerosis and in cardiovascular prevention. - Is able to understand the specific themes of cardio-metabolic syndromes, ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension, and heart failure.

Cardiovascular risk in young women and before pregnancy

Influence of lifestyle (diet, physical activity, obesity, sleep quality, glycemic control, blood pressure and dyslipidemia) on the development of cardiovascular diseases

Assessment methods

The final assessment will be a written multiple-choice test. The time limit is one hour. The test determines a grade. Journal club activities conducted in the classroom reduce the number of quizzes the student will have to take by 50%, but do not determine a grade.
