95772 - Laboratory of Geomatics P

Academic Year 2025/2026

  • Moduli: Maria Alessandra Tini (Modulo 1) Luca Tavasci (Modulo 2)
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures (Modulo 1) Traditional lectures (Modulo 2)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Techniques and Management for Construction and Land (cod. 6115)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students will have acquired the operational skills necessary to conduct topographic surveys using both terrestrial and satellite instrumentation (including digital levels, manual and robotic total stations, hotogrammetry, laser scanning and GNSS). The laboratory component includes practical exercises regarding both the acquisition and processing of data. The course specifically delves into (at a micro level) the program's objective of training survey experts, providing operational skills for field work. This laboratory component integrates the courses Topografia e RIlievo, Catasto, Elementi di Disegno e CAD, Laboratorio di GIS e BIM, providing operational skills in the methods and techniques of surveying structures and terrain, as well as in their digital representation. These skills are integrated into territorial and environmental analysis, contributing to tools for land and environmental management.

Course contents

The course has a strongly practical and applied emphasis. The main tools necessary for professional surveying practice will be examined, including:

  • levels and rods;
  • total stations;
  • GNSS receivers;
  • laser scanners;
  • drones for photogrammetry.

The main constructive and theoretical aspects, related to operational practice and processing of measurements, will be recalled for each kind of instrumentation.

Several practical field exercises will be carried out, including related sessions of measurement design and subsequent processing of measured data.

Elevation, planimetric and three-dimensional surveys will be considered, both for coordinate alignment and detailed surveying, to solve common problems in professional practice.
