Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to a critical analysis of the iconic and figurative components that define the character of landscape architecture. It proposes a critical and operational reflection on the knowledge required for the design of architectural projects capable of engaging with the formal, iconic, and functional complexity of the landscape. Particular attention is given to the anthropic, representative, and expressive dimensions of the relationship between architecture and landscape. At the end of the course, students acquire the tools necessary to interpret the iconic and figurative elements of the landscape, in order to integrate architectural projects within the anthropic landscape.
Course contents
The course introduces students to a critical reading of the landscape and its defining characteristics, providing both theoretical and operational tools for the development of design projects. The landscape reveals a relationship between morphology and cultural heritage that defines a complexity which can be analyzed through its iconic and figurative aspects. Landscape architecture can be understood both as a perceptual experience and as an anthropic space shaped by design, contributing to the construction of place identity.
