Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student is able to recognize the risks for operators and patients in different care settings and applies the knowledge to ensure safety.

Course contents

The contents are taken directly from the relevant legislative source - Article 37 of Legislative Decree 81/2008

* Healthcare work environments - specific characteristics;

* Manual handling of loads and Patients;

* Physical risks (noise, vibrations, microclimate, etc.);

* Chemical risk (individual and collective protection);

* Medical gases in cylinders;

* Work-related stress, psychosocial discomfort, violence from third parties, and gender differences;

* Instructions for managing emergencies in the workplaces of AUSL Romagna;

* Biological risk, health surveillance, vaccinations, working mothers, night work;

* Risks from ionizing radiation and non-ionizing radiation.

Brief notes on clinical risk and techniques for involving patients and their caregivers in promoting safety in hospital and home care settings.

Use of procedures/documentation in use within AUSL Romagna and company tools to work safely.

Teaching methods

Interactive lesson using micro-case studies for the application of theory in nursing practice.

Assessment methods

The assessment of knowledge will be evaluated through a written test on computer support.
