91800 - Seminars (B) LM

Academic Year 2025/2026

Course contents

The seminar introduces students to the theory and practice of audiovisual translation, with particular reference to the Chinese language. It is divided into two parts, an initial theoretical-methodological part and a second practical part, in which students will engage in a translation exercise.

The practical part consists of translating and setting the subtitles for a short film that will be presented in the Sinofonie: Cinema in Chinese Languages selection, as part of the 11th edition of the Ennesimo Film Festival (Fiorano Modenese, May 2026).

During the seminar, the festival's artistic and translation staff will give presentations to explore the themes of professional subtitling and cinematic language.

Readings/Bibliography

The reference texts will be provided in good time so that participants can review them.
