Academic Year 2025/2026

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Forli
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in International relations and diplomatic affairs (cod. 8048)

Learning outcomes

The aim of the workshop is to introduce participants to the critical reading and understanding of texts (relating to political and social sciences), starting from the examination of significant cases.

At the end of the workshop the student has acquired the skills necessary to summarize, outline (also in written form), contextualize, critically analyze theoretical, empirical and methodological aspects of the text under examination (volume, journal essay, research report, short article).

Course contents

How does scientific knowledge circulate? Through what channels, tools, and methods is scientific knowledge transmitted? Where and how is scientific knowledge formed in the social sciences?

In what contexts do the debates, discussions, and discussions take shape and develop, from which concepts, ideas, theories, approaches, and interpretations emerge, enabling us to accumulate, grow, and innovate knowledge of the world-society we live in?

The workshop will seek to answer these questions through the analysis of the different types of scientific texts that underpin the development and dissemination of knowledge in the social sciences.

We will learn to analyze the internal structure of various scientific texts: monographs (scientific essays), edited works, book chapters, journal articles, reviews, research reports, etc., in order to apply this reading method to a variety of semantic contexts.
