Learning outcomes

Know and undertand recording techniques, electrode placement, wave form morphology and cursor placement, instrumentation.

Course contents

Evoked Potentials (EP): definition, basic concepts, instrumentation, acquisition methods and clinical applications:

  • visual evoked potentials: pattern-reversal VEPs elicited by checkerboard, Flash VEPs elicited by a flash.
  • electroretinogram: full-field electroretinography (ERG), pattern ERG (PERG)
  • Somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP or SSEP)
  • Auditory evoked potentials (AEPs)
  • Motor evoked Potentials
  • Event-related potentials (ERPs)
  • Laser evoked potentials (LEPs) and Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMPs)

Teaching methods

Lectures. Clinical case presentations, dedicated labs.

Oral examination with questions on the main topics of the program.
