Learning outcomes

Recognize the morphologic and molecular features of bone and joint diseases, and correlate them with their clinical presentation.

Course contents

Surgical pathology and histopathology of the following diseases:

Rheumathoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis.

Benign and malignant tumors of the bone and cartilage.

Soft tissue sarcomas.

Teaching methods

Class presentations.

Attendance to learning activities is mandatory; the minimum attendance requirement to be admitted to the final exam is 60% of lessons.

Attendance will be recorded.

Assessment methods

The exam for this module of the integrated course is a written, multiple-choice test based on 40 questions, aimed to verify the comprehension of the pathology features of the matters covered in the integrated course.

Scoring system:

· Each correct answer earns 0.8 points.

· Incorrect answers do not subtract points.

· The total score is rounded to the nearest whole number.

This system allows the student to score 30 with 2-3 incorrect answers, and even 30 cum laude with one incorrect answer.

Important note: This evaluation will be integrated with the other modules of the integrated course to obtain the final mark. To pass the exam the students need to earn at least 18 out of 30 in each of the modules. Students may accept or deny the single evaluations and the final mark.
