Learning outcomes
The student at the end of the internship period has knowledge and skills that allow him to apply, under the guidance of the tutor or independently, the physiotherapy process. It identifies the needs of the person in the different phases of life, through an evaluation of the clinical data that consider the motor, psychomotor, cognitive and functional modifications. Using clinical reasoning, he is able to collect clinical data by producing organic, complete and appropriately drafted forms. Can assess people affected by the main pathologies proposed by the course of study and set the treatment plan, identifying general and specific objectives, know how to perform some of the main physiotherapy treatment maneuvers. Can assess the responses to physiotherapy intervention, recording the changes during and at the end of the same. Acts in a manner consistent with ethical, deontological and disciplinary principles. It recognizes and respects the role and skills of the other care team operators and establishes collaborative relationships. Knows how to manage the relationship with family members of the person who needs help to improve health, knows how to promote the actions necessary to overcome the disability, the removal of architectural barriers, the promotion of mobility in relation to health status.
Course contents
The program includes an internship aimed at developing clinical skills, including visits to healthcare facilities and community settings (including home-based care) in orthopedics, neurological care, rehabilitation inpatient clinics, outpatient clinics for children and geriatric facilities (CRA, RSA).
Due to the types of activities and teaching methods adopted, attendance at this training program requires all students to complete Modules 1 and 2 via e-learning and participate (8 hours) in the third module, which covers specific training on health and safety in the study/internship environment.
Students with learning disabilities and temporary or permanent disabilities are encouraged to contact the dedicated office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/it/per-studenti) as soon as possible to discuss appropriate compensatory measures. The request must be submitted in advance (15 days before the exam date) to the teacher, who will evaluate the adequacy of the measures taking into account the educational objectives.

Teaching methods
Each internship is preceded by a briefing, in which the general and specific objectives are shared, transcribed in a Contract, diversified for each reality.
The internship includes a period of coaching with an internship tutor in a 1: 1 ratio
At the end of the internship, both in the first and in the second semester, debriefings are organized according to the methodology of reflective learning in which experiences are shared in small equal groups both from a professional and personal point of view with the teacher as supervisor and guide.
At the end of the group work, the students meet in class to share with everyone what emerged from the single group.
The teacher will also present the graphical report of the progress of the internships.
Assessment methods
Eligibility exam at the end of the second semester and passing of all the internship experiences planned for the course year.
Teaching tools
Internship contracts. Internships are scheduled at affiliated facilities, with a 1:1 tutor-to-student ratio.
The internship tutor is a healthcare professional (physiotherapist) adequately trained in accordance with the current educational regulations (Ministerial Decree 270/04).
