Learning outcomes
Knowledge about the psychological and relational aspects within a palliative care relationship. The relationships between patient and family, between patient and professional carers and between family and professional carers. Quality of life. psychological distress, anxiety, depression. . The disclosure of bad news. The support and supervision of the staff. How to prevent burnout. The management of complicated grief.
Course contents
The course will be run on the first semester and aims to provide the basic knowledge on he psychological and relational aspects in the contexts of palliative care , mainly:
1- The person in palliative care: psychological suffering
2- the psychological, existential and spiritual dimensions of people in palliative care
3- Quality of life and palliative care
4- family relationships and dynamics
5- the care team in palliative care
6- communication and shared decisions
7-Introduction to interventions.

One open question concerning a clinical case
10 multiple choice questions concerning the topics covered throughout the course.
The following criteria will be used for the evaluation of the open question:
1- contents reported about topic
2- description and logical framework
3- the appropriateness of the language used concerning the topic covered
