Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student possesses theoretical knowledge relating to the topics of education, training and teaching; he/she is able to use pedagogical language, understand the relationship between personal representations and theories relating to general pedagogy, knowledge necessary to problematise in pedagogical terms; he/she is able to recognise and analyse the characteristics of the educational relationship and learning settings; knows the main methodologies of educational intervention and the operational didactic implications; is able to describe the role and functions of the educator in relation to intervention contexts, knowing how to read educational situations, hypothesise lines of intervention and choose coherent evaluation criteria, with particular reference to middle and high school

Course contents

The General Pedagogy course aims to draw attention to the elements of complexity and the main problematic nodes of the educational experience. Through the dialogue with the psycho-pedagogy of communication, with the contributions of neuroscientific research and with some significant moments of reflection on the ethical problem, it will touch upon neuralgic themes for future secondary school teachers, such as the discomforts and rejects inherent in the process of growth and evolution, the problems connected to the reconstruction of one's own bodily and emotional memory, the possibilities of restructuring received conditioning and the transformation of educational styles. In the background, the analysis of a process of biological and socio-cultural evolution, which justifies the changes taking place and highlights the crucial role of the experiences of education, instruction and formation.

Teaching methods

Lectures, alternating with group work, role playing and discussions

Assessment methods

The methods of assessment and evaluation will be agreed with the attending students, also taking into account the overall number and their preferences. In general, however, the choice falls on the three possible forms of assessment: oral test, written test with multiple-choice questions, written test with open-ended questions.
