Learning outcomes

Students learn ethnographic research methods. The laboratory focuses on the video analysis of social interaction, including planning data collection, video recording, transcribing and analyzing data.

Course contents

Students will realize a research project based on the video analyses of social interaction, including ordinary/institutional/professional activities.

Students will realize the following research steps:

Data collection planning and ethics of research

Data videorecordings

Collection construction (based on videoclips realization): several instances of the same phenomenon will be chosen.

Data Analysis

 

Participation is limited to 20 students.

Readings/Bibliography

The main bibliographical references will be communicated during the first encounter and made available on the platform VIRTUALE.

Students will have to read the texts during the first part of the course, before the beginning of the data collection.

 

 

Teaching methods

 

Lectures (first 2 encounters)

Individual and collective work on video data: students will mainly work in group.

Assessment methods

Individual presentations, with Power Point support, of the research project realized by each group.

Students with SLD or temporary or permanent disabilities.
