Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the students will know the base contents of Industrial Economics to analyse the behaviour of the firm and its effect on the market. Moreover the students will be able to value the strategic interaction among firms and his implications on their beahviour.
Course contents
1. Basic content. Consumers. Firms, market structure, market power. Market failures, externalities and public goods. Pricing strategies and non Pricing strategies.
2. Innovation; process, product and organization. Research and development.
3. Introduction to the Industrial Property: exclusive rights and competition. Patents, trademarks, designs, copyright.
4. Introduction to the eco-innovation, definitions and dimensions. Environmental regulation and eco-innovation. Environmental regulation and effects on competitivity (Porter Hypothesis) and firm location (pollution haven hypothesis).
