Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to: a) Understand the influence of diet on the metabolism and homeostasis of bone tissue; b) Understand the diagnostic and therapeutic tools to evaluate bone wellness.
Course contents
Beside its mechanical function, bone also inflences the homeostasis of the organism as a whole. Bone wellness is closely associated with the income of nutrients and their absorption in the gastro-intestinal tract, in turn influenced by the gut microbiome. The assessment of hormonal and metabolic functions of bone is therefore highly relevant for the wellness of the entire organism.
Attendance is strongly recommended.
