Learning outcomes

The course aims to get to know the founding concepts of educational experience and the relationship between pedagogy and educational sciences. Particular attention will then be paid to the topics of general and intercultural pedagogy. The student will acquire the basic pedagogical knowledge and skills, enabling him/her to independently design and manage an educational pathway in the motor and recreational-sports field, in school and out-of-school, especially in heterogeneous and multicultural contexts, in collaboration with other professionals working in the same field with different skills.

Course contents

Body education and general and social pedagogy will be explored through various perspectives, including seminar-based and somatic workshops, with theoretical-practical proposals, reference scientific literature, an encounter with literature for childhood and adolescence, and a proposal to elaborate methodological and didactic practices of body education based on the combination of the suggestions proposed.
During the course, valuable tools will be provided for reflecting on the relationship between narratives, the body, movement, sport, and education.

Texts and scientific articles are available on Virtuale.
Somatic experiential outdoor seminars.
Fiction books such as novels, comics, and illustrated books; popularisation books: the narrative and popularisation texts are all collected on a dedicated shelf in the Campus Library called SPED (Sport Education). Reading and familiarising oneself with the resources on the SPED shelf is required. Teaching methods
The course is in blended mode, i.e. it will alternate between face-to-face lectures and asynchronous distance learning.
The course will use a highly collaborative approach and will involve group work to be carried out independently and in class.
Constant and active participation is strongly recommended.
Attending the course involves active participation in classroom discussions and online forums and passing intermediate tests organised at the end of each module.
Those who cannot attend can still take the examination in the traditional manner and with a different examination programme.
Assessment and evaluation of learning
The examination is designed to check the achievement of the following learning objectives
in-depth knowledge of the topics illustrated during the lectures
ability to critically rework these themes, with particular regard to inclusion issues
ability to elaborate and apply the themes learnt to concrete contexts in the field of sport
ability to present content effectively in oral and written form
ability to work collaboratively in groups.

Assessment methods

Examination methods for frequent participants (in itinere examinations)

The course provides for various individual or group examinations at the end of each module using structured tests, presentations, short essays.

Those who attend and participate in all intermediate activities and assignments can achieve the final module grade immediately at the end of the course.

Examination procedure for non-attenders (written examination)

Written examination divided into two parts:

open-ended questions (objective 1 and 2)
short essay, broad answer to one question (objective 3)
The final grade will be given by the average of the General Pedagogy and Pedagogy of Play module.

All students will, however, be guaranteed the possibility of taking the examination in the traditional written examination only.

Assessment criteria:

In the written examination the two parts will be equally weighted by 50%.

The final mark for the Integrated Course will be given by the mathematical average between the General Pedagogy module and the Pedagogy of Play and Sport module.
