Learning outcomes

The course aims at the following learning outcomes:

- provide the necessary bases to develop decisional and professional autonomy in the diagnosis and management of hematologic malignancies, with particular focus on their genetic and molecular bases.

- provide the scientific and methodological bases to expand the indications of genetics in hematological malignancies.

- provie the key theoretical and practical knowledge about the main methodologies used to diagnose hematological malignancies-

Course contents

1) Example of a hematological malignancy sustained by a single oncogenic lesion: Philadelphia positive myeloproliferative neoplasms. Principles of targeted therapy.

2) Example of a hematological malignancy sustained by multiple cooperating oncogenic lesions: Philadelphia negative myeloproliferative neoplasms.

3) Advanced molecular diagnostic techniques.

4) dvanced molecular diagnostic techniques - part II: NGS

Readings/Bibliography

No textbooks are required. The teacher will provide up-to-date scientific literature on the course topics.

The final exam consists of an oral or written assessment with one question for each of the course modules.
