Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student will develop reasoning skills.
diagnostic, clinical reasoning, and critical thinking skills.

with particular reference to highly complex situations. He/she will apply the
knowledge in relation to technical, relational and pedagogical

Course contents

The laboratory provides an opportunity for the student to experiment in applying theoretical principles to clinical practice and to practice, in a controlled environment, to develop:

- technical-practical skills before proceeding to clinical practice through the use of simulators/dummies;

- educational, organizational, interpersonal, reasoning and problem solving skills by applying assistive methodologies.

Gesture workshop: activity carried out in small groups of students. Based on the theoretical content learned, the student practices to acquire a technical-manual skill. The activity is conducted by an experienced nurse by demonstration of the same and subsequent performance by the student on dummies or also by practice among students themselves. The scheduled workshops are:

1. Movement Lab.

Laboratory report: activity carried out in small groups of students. Based on the theoretical content learned, the student practices to acquire communication, interpersonal skills. The activity is conducted by an experienced nurse by demonstration of the same and subsequent performance by the student. The scheduled workshops are:

1. Workshop on education through brief motivational interviewing

2. Aggression management workshop

3. Workshop on continuity of care through delivery

Care planning/educational planning workshop the activity is conducted in groups. Students are presented with a clinical care case description, from which students plan care by identifying problems (nursing diagnoses and Collaborative Problems), goals/outcomes, indicators and specific care interventions including educational ones. The scheduled workshops are:

1. Planning workshop to the person in critical care

2. Planning workshop to the person in mental health

3. Planning workshop to the person to ensure continuity of care

The reference bibliography are texts and handouts identified by the lecturer.

Assessment methods

The assessment of each individual lab will be conducted in ways according to the specific objectives. Final proficiency will be achieved by passing a written multiple-choice quiz test will measure knowledge, comprehension, reasoning and decision making.
