Learning outcomes

Applied knowledge and understanding in the field of abdominal echography. The student will be able to recognise normal from pathological fetaures in the abdomen by ultrasound. Knowledge and understanding of interventional procedures. The student will know when procedures are indicated, how they are performed and thus how the patient should be prepared. He/she will also know how to support the performance of the simplest ultrasound-guided procedures when (thoracentesis, paracentesis).

Attendance to the entire course is mandatory. The pass certificate will be released after passing of the final test and multiple choice quizzes at the end of the course.

The programs is part of an integrated course of 3 intermingled teaching modules

Teaching methods

1. Traditional lectures in classes
2. Hands on practical training in small groups on ultrasound scanners with the opportunity to personally attempt to perform and ultrasonography under the supervision of tutors

Assessment methods

The assessment will be performed through a multiple choice test at the end of the course.

Teaching tools

Practical hand-on sessions are also planned during which the students will become acquainted with conventional ultrasound expoliting the opportunity to visualize organs in the abdomen and neck personally under the supervision of a tutor.
