Academic Year 2021/2022

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Mechatronics (cod. 5818)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the laboratory, the student knows the basics for the interpretation and execution of technical drawings with conventional representation methodologies (according to UNI ISO) and CAD. In particular, the student: - knows the main three-dimensional solid modeling tools for creating mechanical components; - is able to produce technical drawings and their dimensioning; - is able to define assemblies and kinematic and dynamic simulations of mechanisms, and is able to analyse the results.

Lessons are recorded and provided to all those enrolled in the course.

Teaching methods

The course provides the basis for a CAD, through interactive lessons. The ultimate goal is to allow students to independently model, assemble and draw mechanical components and assemblies in a CAD, as well as simulate simple mechanical groups. To combine the theoretical and practical aspects, the simulations will be presented with references to the theoretical aspects of the course of Foundations of Mechanics P.

To put the acquired knowledge into practice, a project will be assigned to groups of 3-6 students. The project will consist of the CAD modeling and assembly of the components of a mechanical group, of which a cinematic, static or dynamic simulation must be also performed.

Assessment methods

The student presents the assigned group project. In addition to verifying the project, details are asked on the functioning of the group and on some of the theoretical aspects of the mechanical drawing analyzed in the course.

It is also required to produce a CAD component, an assembly, a mechanical simulation of a mechanism or a drawing during the exam, similar to what proposed during the lessons.

Teaching tools

Some presentations will be used to support the theoretical arguments. The material is made available on the "Virtual" site.

The lessons will be recorded and made available to those enrolled in the course.
