Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student willknow health and safety disciplineat work. Hewill beable tounderstandin an autonomous way prevention standards at the workplace and applythem to the caseswith proper terminology.
Course contents
The course has a monographic content and allows students to acquire the essential knowledge in the field of Health and Safety and well-being at workplace, particularly with regard to the prevention perspective and integrated management of risks.
Lessons program covers the following topics:
MODULE N. 1
General lines of the health and safety regulatory system:
- European legislation
and harmonization principle in health and
safety at work.
- European Framework Directive of 1989 and the sectoral directives
- Characteristics and evolution of the Italian legal system relating to the protection health and safety at workplace
The Italian framework:
- D. lgs. n. 81/2008 and subsequent amendments: Scope, actors, organizational structures of prevention.
- Participation of workers and trade union representatives.
- Safety in flexible labour relationship.
- Security in outsourcing processes (contracts and self-employment).
- The inspection activities in Health and Safety at work.
- Pandemic risk
MODULE N. 2
Health and Safety at work in a gender-sensitive perspective:
- Impact of gender differences in occupational risks; Causes (work organization; gender neutral legislation);
- Rules and practices to integrate gender perspective in prevention strategies.
Prevention and precaution :
- The European principle of precaution.
- The risks from "unknown technology".
- The asbestos risk: questions of civil and criminal liability. Analysis of case law concerning liability for workers' exposure to asbestos.

Considering the constant evolution of health and safety legislation, it is recommended the direct consultation of d. lgs. n. 81/2008.

Teaching methods
The frontal lessons are supplemented by the Focus Group activity on some jurisprudential cases.
Students can optionally participate in the Focus Groups, coordinated by a tutor, for further study and final discussion on the cases examined.
Assessment methods
The final exam will be oral.
For attending students is planned a middle written test, which allows program exemptions for the final exam.
This intermediate test takes place at the end of the course with EOL.
For the intermediate test shall be required to attend classes and supplementary activities during the course.
The frequency is verified periodically by the teacher.
Classes are held in the first half-year and therefore the attending students can take the exam starting from the month of January.
Students can take the exam only after having passed “Law of markets and employment relationships”
