Neurophysiopathology techniques (cod. 8482)
Also valid for First cycle degree programme (L) in Nursing (cod. 8473)
Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes will be: a) basic knowledge about drug metabolism (administration, clearance, therapeutics, adverse effects)
Course contents
GENERAL PHARMACOLOGY. General pharmacokinetics: movement of drugs across cell membranes; routes of administration and absorption; bioavailability; distribution of drugs in the body; volume of distribution, binding to plasma proteins; drug metabolism; excretion; time-course of drug plasmatic contents (after single or repeated administration). General pharmacodynamics: targets and mechanisms of drug action; dose-response curve; agonists, partial agonists, antagonists; individual variations (effects of age, pathological states, drug interactions, tolerance, placebo effects). General toxicity: side-effects, overdose, idiosyncratic and allergic reactions; teratogenesis and foetal toxicity; carcinogenesis; drug dependency. Clinical evaluation.
Only for students of the CdL in Neurophysiopathology
The program for students enrolled in the CdL Techniques in Neurophysiopathology is integrated with lessons where the following classes of drugs will be treated: 1) Antiepileptics 2) Benzodiazepines and barbiturates 3) Anesthetics and Pain Pharmacological Control

Assessment methods
The level of learning will be verified at the end of the course through a written exam. The exam will be organized in multiple choice questions aimed at verifying the student's knowledge of the scheduled topics of all the modules belonging to the Integrated Course.
The test will be administered through an IT platform and will be held in a university computer room.
The test consists of 31 questions. Each question has 4 answers, only one correct. Each correct answer is worth one point.
Those who reach a minimum of 18 points pass the test. The number of correct answers, if greater than or equal to 18, corresponds to the final mark. With 31 correct answers you have praise. There are no penalties for wrong or undecided answers.
It is possible at any time to go back and edit an answer. The test must be completed within 30 minutes of starting.
At the end of the test it is possible to immediately view the result (number of correct answers).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Only for students of the Degree Course in Neurophysiopathology
Verification of learning will be carried out with the same procedures described for nursing students on dates agreed with the course members and open only to those enrolled in the Degree Course in Neurophysiopathology Techniques
The test will not be administered on IT platform.
