Learning outcomes
The course aims to make the student aware of the profound diversity existing on physio-pathological level, between the growing subject and the adult. At the end of the course, the student achieves this goal in particular by deepening the knowledge of the maturation processes that characterize this period of life. In this context, the student is able to understand which are the consequences of the most common pathological pediatric conditions on the oral health.

Oral examination For the oral exam the candidate will be asked to know the topics covered during the classes
The end-of-course exam aims to assess the achievement of educational objectives:
- Know the basic principles of pediatrics in the aspects relating to history, age of life, prevention and communication to the pediatric patient.
- Know the physical examination of the child's mouth
- Know the main genetic syndromes of orthodontic interest
- Know the clinical pictures of the main systemic diseases of orthodontic interest with particular attention to celiac disease and reflux, pediatric hemorrhagic pathology.
- Approach and classification of mucositis in children
The purpose of the oral exam is to verify the student's ability to apply his or her knowledge and to make the necessary logical-deductive connections. Gradation of the final grade: Preparation on a very limited number of topics covered in the course and analytical skills that emerge only with the help of the teacher, expressed in an overall correct language → 18-19; Preparation on a limited number of topics covered in the course and ability to autonomous analysis only on purely executive matters, expression in correct language → 20-24; Preparation on a large number of topics covered in the course, ability to make independent choices of critical analysis, mastery of specific terminology → 25-29; Basically exhaustive preparation on the topics covered in the course, ability to make autonomous choices of critical analysis and connection, full mastery of specific terminology and ability to argue and self-reflection → 30-30L.
