EU citizenship
If you are a citizen of a country of the European Union (EU), Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Andorra, the Principality of Monaco, Republic of San Marino and the Vatican City, you can freely travel and stay in Italy up to a maximum of three months.
You can also stay without any formalities even if you remain in Italy for a stay of more than 3 months, as long as it is temporary; you only need to have an identity document valid for foreign travel.
