Course contents
The course will include 36 hours of language classes (esercitazioni), which will be held by M. Pilar Asarta
(https://www.unibo.it/sitoweb/mariadel.asarta )
Language classes aim at the acquisition of communicative language skills through various activities. The main focus is on the translation, from Italian into Spanish, of a wide variety of text-types. Using translation as a means for a contrastive analysis, the student will grasp and appreciate the specificity of the two languages. S/he will also expand his/her morphosyntactic knowledge of Spanish so that s/he is able to identify and avoid the difficulties of contrastive grammar arising from the original structures of the two languages through an accurate interlinguistic analysis of texts of various types, developing an intercultural competence and raising awareness of the specific sociolinguistic needs of the two languages.

-
Group work: students work in groups to solve translation problems.
-
Critical analysis: discussion of the translation decisions made in each activity.
Assessment methods
-
The written exam will be a practical translation, from Italian into Spanish, of approximately 300 words, of a type similar to the text-types offered during the course. Time allowed to perform the task is 60 minutes. The use of monolingual and bilingual dictionaries is not permitted.
-
Lexico-grammatical accuracy is of major importance. Papers will be assessed on the basis of language requirements at the C1 level of the Common European Framework.
The examination relating to the language classes accounts for 1/3 of the final grade. Students are allowed to take the Translation exam (lezioni frontali) only after having passed the written exam related to the language lessons (lettorato).
ERASMUS students coming from European Universities must contact Pilar Asarta (mariadel.asarta@unibo.it) within the first two weeks of the course in order to understand the required linguistic level, programmes and assessment methods of both parts. Students who don’t contact the indicated professors at least 2 months before the exam will not be admitted to the exam.
