Learning outcomes
The aim of the workshop is to study the techniques for recognizing a text (such as its literary genre, target audience, market potential, and so on), as well as its potential for development through editorial and editorial review work. We will investigate the changes in the scientific publishing market and the editorial implications of open access publications. Practical exercises on the analysis and editorial review of a text are also included in the workshop.
At the end of the workshop, the student: - is able to manage the main tools of an editor; - knows the editorial process, from the evaluation of a text to its publication; - is able to orient him or herself in the editorial dynamics of online and open access publications.
Course contents
The workshop consists of 5 meetings of 4 hours each dedicated to some of the articulations of editorial work:
1. The editorial management and the editor's work
2.an editoriale staff at work
3. publishing academic journals, digital publishing, open science
4. social campaign and communication
5. organising events and the work with the press

Teaching methods
Each class will be divided into hours of lectures and hours of exercises during which students will learn the main skills and techniques of editorial work.
Assessment methods
For assessment purposes, attendance at the workshop is compulsory and student attendance will be recorded. The final grade is linked to active participation in the classroom and the work carried out during the weekly exercises.
