Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the functioning of the most important economic instruments in the hands of public authorities, such as taxation, deficit/debt and fiscal policy.
Course contents
1) Introduction to the Welfare Economics
2) Public goods, externalities and market failure
3) The theory of collective choices
4) The theory of taxation (public revenues; taxonomy of taxes; criteria for sharing the tax burden and equity of taxation; the distortionary effects of taxation)
5) The theory of public debt
6) Pensions

Frontal lessons, exercises. Students' presentations.
Assessment methods
The exam is aimed at verifying the achievement of the following educational objectives:
1) knowledge of the theoretical tools illustrated during the lectures
2) ability to use these tools to concretely analyze real and financial phenomena related to public intervention in the economy
The exam consists of at least one written test. The test can be taken on line (teams) only in cases admitted by the University (foreign residence/illness)
The text of the exam will contain questions of theory and questions in the form of a numerical exercises.
Marks are expressed in thirtieths
<18 fail
18-23 sufficient
24-27 good
28-30 very good
30 e lode excellent.
