Learning outcomes
The student is able to learn the different types of research studies, measurements and social research tools. The student is able to apply the notions in the construction of the thesis as a research tool, in the publication of an article or a poster.
Course contents
History of Evidence-based clinical practice, from EBM to EBP. Definition of Evidence-Based, limits, tools and skills.
Classification of studies from an EBP perspective. Review of medical statistics: Sampling techniques, Frequency distributions, Association measures.
The research design: The different types of studies (descriptive and analytical observationals, RCTs, systematic reviews).
Sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic accuracy, predictive values of diagnostic tools. Characteristics of secondary education. Systematic reviews and guidelines.
Use of databases and search engines in the field of bibliographic research, knowledge of Mesh terms and Boolean indicators.
Application of EBP to the degree thesis: Choice of the thesis (compilative / experimental / empirical); Structure and presentation of the thesis.
Scientific contributions: The publication of an article; The oral presentation; The poster.
