Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows the methodological bases of the Italian linguistics and the essential bibliography for the study of the grammar and the Italian lexicon, over that for the teaching of the mother language; the historical development of the Italian language, his proposals of regulation, the evolution in action and the perspectives of the XXI century: the all inserted in a sale possession of the correctness and ownership of use, and corroborated by the knowledge of the Italian cultural tradition.

Course contents

We propose a basic teaching that has as primary the possession of the essential lines of the Italian language (as L2, but also as tongue-mother); the discussion on the reasons that are at the base of the 'rules', and on the uses or ‘deviations’; an organization of the grammar and the lexicon in the regional geography, in the history and in the actuality (what cannot neglect the history, even though with the awareness of the evolution that all the living languages characterizes); a guide to the consultation of the available bibliographical resources (printed and online), particularly to the handling of grammars and dictionaries; a starting in the critical opinion on various types of texts, and to the personal production of acceptable texts.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons, open to the collaboration of the frequenting ones, and to the clarification of all the problems that you can rise during the course. In the case of frequency of the lessons, the study of two only texts is allowed among the listed ones (at least one you must belong to the group A), anymore the contents of the lessons (at least 2/3, eventually completed with the didactic materials of Campus); who frequents the lessons in insufficient quantity must study three texts everything (at least one of the group B).

Assessment methods

At the end of the lessons is possible a written test, optional and mainly recommended for the frequenting ones, with questions on the matters developed in the course, and above all with the application to analyze the language of a brief text in prose (generally, part of article of newspaper or modern literary passage). The criterions of evaluation will considerate: 1 - possession of the institutional knowledge; 2 - ability to face, to analyze and to resolve new problems; 3 - correctness in the style of the exposition.
The written examination is optional but, in case of result considerated as satisfactory from the student, it replaces the oral examination. The regular oral appeals will take place subsequently: in the interview not so much for the mnemonic repetition will be asked, but the application of the linguistic competences on real texts. The repetition of the writing is not admitted, neither the heap among test writing and oral (that is: who is not satisfied of the vote of the writing it will give the oral one departing from zero).

Teaching tools

It is useful everything helps the reading and the understanding. The written sheet is the individual base; in class time can be used at times the traditional blackboard, and above all the display devices of computer documents online (as the LIM). For the study from house, besides the select books it results important the consultation of the suitable didactic material on the web.
